The programme for my local, outdoor Morty Jazz festival has been out for a bit now:
jeudi 18 juillet – MORTY JAZZ FESTIVAL
(I trust you'll know how to get to the other days )
Laid-back if the weather allows (literally for the audience, seated on old sofas set freely in an old stone-walled garden). The programming tends to be quite avant-gardiste but I think that will please more than one here - and this year there'll be dance.
Plus again the Leviathan Gipsy Band keeping the fun up between the main programme acts.
Question: is the bass player using gut for the 2 upper strings in this video and how (un)common is that??

I can't hear him good enough to say, but gut strings are extremely popular with the bluegrass and rockabilly guys. They very well could be 50% of the upright players at this point.

Interesting. (I meant pure/plain gut of course, and based on looks alone. The 2 lower strings could be wound gut...)
