The Gretsch doesn't have Gretsch pickups in it: it's been modded for Gibson-style humbuckers. HUGE difference.
Alot of jazz on Gretsch guitars in this thread:
Jazz on a Gretsch Guitar?

Sal Salvador used Gretsch.

I played that exact song on a Gretsch (G6117T-HT) on Saturday night. There’s a secret to “dialing in the mud” on a Gretsch and it involves turning the volume down on the neck pickup and turning up the master volume.
I find it has a lovely sound with the “pop” that I’m always looking for.
I will say this, the 175 is a more “transparent” and open guitar. It has more of an acoustic feel and sound than the Gretsches, maybe more of a microphonic sound. I like to go back and forth, because each one has its own nuances that makes playing the usual stuff interesting.

What about this Gretsch?? How come it sounds like a big Heritage??
