Hello everyone!
I just bought an ES-125T two days ago. The guy I bought it from mainly used it for blues, so he played 10s on it. I want to get more of a jazz sound out of it, so I'd like to try 12s. I know these guitars are known to have problems with the neck joint, and mine has already had a neck reset. I don't know when it was done, but if you look closely, you can tell that the neck has been removed. It looks like it was done properly but still I want to be very careful with it, so maybe someone can share some experience on whether these guitars can handle 12s.
Thanks for your help,
Gallus

Go for it !
Mine ('59 ES 125 T) is strung with 12's since I got it ten years ago or so with no problem. Previous owner had it strung with 10's but the bridge couldn't stay in place due to low oressure on the top, and the sound was weak
Much better sound plugged AND unplugged with 12's
And welcome to the forum !

I had a es125 that had a neck reset. I think it was a 1964. I put 13 flats on it and it was fine.

Thanks a lot for the replies! I put a set of 11s on for now which is already a big improvement but as soon as they are done i will switch to 12s.
best regards

My 125T came with round wounds but I put Thomastik Swing 11s on it and couldn't be happier. I love the neck and it plays so easily.
Congrats on the new addition.
