Ok, it's just a modified Player Tele with a thicker bridge and a Lollar CC in the neck but last night I was lucky enough to meet Julian Lage (Thanks David!!) and he signed my Tele!!
I think that I've got one of the coolest Tele's on the planet
Btw one of my friends said that the signature increases the value of the guitar (not that it's for sale!!) so that's nice to know for when my kids sell it after I'm gone

I don't know about the resale value, but the memory is priceless.
You should have had him inscribe a message "Thanks for teaching me everything I know"...
Seriously, nice guitar and an inspirational personal touch that will always remind you of what sounds you have yet to tap from that instrument.
Play it til it sings!
(I wish I had owned a tele back when I saw Roy Buchanan. THAT would have been an autograph for the keeping!)

Did you know in advance the CC pickup would work for you or was it an experiment? I recently bought a Tele, not crazy about the Seymour Duncan neck pickup on it (it's not the original pickup), so I'm considering alternatives.
It seems like this sudden mania for the CC pickup was set off by the new Ibanez PM model?

I have a knock-off Alvarez Nashville tele (3 PU) and also have been wondering about switching out the neck PU for a CC or noiseless humbucker. Not sure either would fit. I do know that moving to a higher gauge string (currently 11's) did indeed make a noticeable difference. And it was a cheap fix.

Interesting coincidence, Lage is currently custodian of the mid-50's Les Paul that one of the Spinal Tap folks lent (or gave) to him. It's in beautiful shape except for one thing- the previous owner (Guest?) had Les Paul himself sign straight across the front of the guitar in magic marker. That's got to put a pretty big hit on the value!
Glad you had him sign on the back of the headstock!

But I wanted to ask earlier about signatures on guitars in general - -do owners / players ever try to ' protect ' these signatures from fading or wearing off, and, if so how ?
Good going on that JL model !

Bros in Arkansas to Mr. Buchanan's specs.
One day I walked in and this thing was hanging high on a rack near the back. At first I didn't even look at the price tag (it was too high to reach), but finally I asked to see it. It was, well, affordable to me. It was banged up, chipped in places, and the case looked like something had dried in the corner.
But it also played and sounded awesome, and so I bought it right there (I actually had to call my mom and have her bring my checkbook, and I only had a couple bucks left over afterwards), and I played the shit out of it for years. Hundreds of gigs, many tours in a van, jazz gigs, recording sessions.
A couple years ago I brought back to Berlin, where it lives with me now. I don't know its backstory. For all I know it might've even been his.
That's not an actual autograph, it's engraved into the pickguard down to the black layer.

Perfect place for a sig. I was once going to buy a mandolin and the seller had a famous bluegrass person scrawl her signature on the front across the lower bout.ruined the instrument for me. This one is placed perfectly!

That MGH sticker looks a bit like the cover of the Advancing Guitarist by Mick Goodrick.
Is it an homage?
