I've got new Cordoba Orchestra Fusion 12 CE coming tomorrow and considering an amp dedicated to it for Richard Smith/John Knowles/Chet/ragtime type thumb style stuff. Any suggestions? Any of you Evans owners tried nylon string through it and how did it work? I'm looking heavily at the EAE A1-8 which seems pretty nice and also has effects, phantom power, and rechargeable battery. Don't NEED another amp but, well.........

I have a Cordoba Studio Negra. I've played hundreds of gigs using my old Carvin AG100D and it sounds great. I just got a AER Compact 60 TE last September and and that also sounds wonderful, and I think is closer to the amp that you're looking at.

I’ve had a Cordoba Fusion 14 for some 11 years now. It’s amazing how well the guitar has held up for a mere $450 investment.

My old SWR Strawberry Blonde acoustic amp sounds great with classical guitars as well as with a bass. It has a switchable piezo horn that really is effective in certain situations. I suppose most any acoustic guitar amp should sound fine for classical guitars.

    AER Compact 60, job done

I used an Alpha for years, but I don't think it plays as nicely with condenser mics. Brilliant with a nylon string with under saddle piezo though.

    Anyone?

I have owned several Compact 60's and I have plugged into a friends Alpha. It was all pretty damn similar, IIRC. The AER amp I posted a link to is made especially for Nylon strings. I have never tried one, and it could be a marketing tool for nylon string players. But is out there, and if I were using nylon strings all the time, I would consider it. I have a Classical guitar and it has a piezo pickup installed. Through my Henriksen Bud 6 with the Tweeter engaged, my Classical sounds pretty damn good.

I mean I have a cheap student model Classical with the cheapest Fishman under saddle you can get and the AER made it sound like a million dollars.

I infinitely prefer it in that context to any electric jazz guitars, or my Selmac (I think that's probably down to the pup tbf, should have got a Bigtone.)

So I can only imagine the nylon specific one is killer.

These days I use a Quilter Superblock US through a FRFR 8" Toob Metro speaker and that sounds very good and is even lighter. I haven't used the Alpha for a long time (it's at a friends house) but that said, I'm missing it now.

EDIT: that demo gives a good idea of what this type of amp sounds like in the room. Could they not have cut off the handling noise and that low end thump when he moves the amp though lol?

For background/restaurant gigs and the like I take my Cordoba Fusion-12 , an archtop and my Roland Street amp. For the occasional backing Track it’s also great since it’s a stereo amp. The front is slanted so it sits beside me on the floor and while I hear myself I can also be sure that it‘s not too loud in the room.

I use my Henriksen Bud with my Godin Grand Concert for solo classical/bossa/etc gigs and I love it. I also think the AER 60 is an excellent choice. The advantage the Bud has for me is it takes solid and semi hollow electrics with pedals just as well

My Roland Street cost me € 250,- used, my Bud6 €800,- (1st gen., also used) and my used Bud6 Blu €900,-
No questions re the stage-worthiness of the Henriksen amps but honestly, the Roland sounds better with my Cordoba in low volume settings. Same thing when playing my archtop with backing tracks also coming through the Roland.

I have a Fender Mustang LT25 that is my main amp for my Cordoba Stage. Inexpensive and super light. This is the most portable rig I ever had. I use the studio preamp model with a gate in the front and a hint of pseudo spring reverb.

Probably the best is some type of Full Range P.A. in a smaller form, like some already mentioned
If you don’t have the $ go with an older Boss Cube 60. I’ve had great luck with both that and my Quilter Aviator combos early versions
