I just got one of these ($25 @ MF). It's called, "Ampwedge." It seems to work quite well. And Barney Kessel’s book can now go back on the coffee table!

Anything you can do to isolate your guitar cab from the floor makes a big difference with projection.

I am currently using a dictionary/thesaurus combo wedged under the front of my amp to tilt it upwards. It does not help with my guitar vocabulary unfortunately.

Thanks kawa for the info. But "ampstandback" doesn't isolate amp from floor so I'm more convinced to the ultimate stand...

And, because the cabinet is quite deep, it doesn't feel like it's in danger of tipping over backwards at all. It improves the tonal balance and sound dispersion nicely.
It doesn't work well with the ZT Club, however. This amp is not nearly as deep, and it has much smaller feet. So, it does feel as if it may be prone to tipping over backwards while using the Ampwedge. I'll just keep putting this one on top of an upside-down plastic milk crate, which is very stable and works fine.

I was thinking about a stand, or putting tilting legs on my amp, until I had the chance to hear an audio engineer/guitarist play locally. He used a 2" thick piece of flat medium density foam under his amp. It sounded awesome and really had improved projection. The guy said that when you put your amp directly on the floor, the floor absorbs a lot of energy from your cabinet, affecting volume, clarity, and projection. Hearing is believing. Of course, if you use an amp with a small speaker, sometimes you want the extra bottom that results from putting it on the floor.

Stand just arrived [ultimate amp-150]. Very nice, playing is much more comfortable now
thanks for the topic folks!

I use my old metal amp stands as taget practice for my .22. Makes a nice ping when you hit it right
I use one of these amp stands
and one of these, but this one belongs to a friend.

I've been using the Ultimate AMP150 for years and it works fine. It's cheap, portable, and lightweight. The backpost for attaching a mike boom is very clever and works as it should. It's a great design for those of us who haul our own gear.

Move your amp around your house one afternoon, put it on the ottoman, and then the rocking chair, and then the bed, and then the kitchen table.. You'll be amazed at the way the sound changes. Amp Stands are integral to a good solid unaltered sound. They are integral to a musicians sound.

OK, it takes the potential boominess out of the bottom end without killing the great bass response - sort of smoothes out the transition from deep bass to lower midrange. And, because the amp is somewhat directional in its stock configuration, it seems to open up the upper midrange a bit. It's not night and day, but it's visually unobtrusive, sonically a little better, and inexpensive. I never now use the amp without it - even at home.
(Ah! Josh beat me to it!)

I would like to have that wedge for my Markbass Jeff Berlin combo, when I have to play bass. I going to latch on to one.

Hi everybody,
I have a Roland Cube 60 and I'm looking for a stand but the stands you find at say Guitar Center are too big for the amp. Does anyone know of a good stand for a smaller amp? Thanks guys.

Get a peice of black fabric and drape it over the chair, to the audience the amp will seem to float. You could be a magician musician, they will watch in amazement. :-) wasnt there a dude selling those custom stands on here, pricey. but they looked very nice

Here are samples of amp stands.

Very useful and efective for the stage and sounds pursuit at the home.
At the stage, each players feel the own sounds and prevent the too mutch
volume each one.
At the home, check the speakers front real sounds for check the condition or comparison, adj, etc.
(I'm setting two set of AMP150 always)
Use the some wood plate(painted matted black) for small width amps.Last edited by kawa; 05-19-2012 at 12:16 PM.
