A great guitar. Parallel bracing, no tone post, 25.5" scale. Somehow only about a dozen of these guitars got out of the Terada Japan shop without the usual paint job.

Dig that axe - I've started paying more attention to Gretsch's lately since noticing that Billy Bean played one. Those body specs are exactly what I'm after in an electric archtop - love the idea of a 17" (I'm guessing it's a 17"?) with a slimmer body depth & the 25.5 scale to boot. Not many laminates around in those dimensions. Congrats

Oh, and what a super hip music room - got a vibe
-
Lovely setup. Bet those dynas sound wonderful with the longer scale length. Even the cable looks great.
-
Thanks. The music room is just a corner of the dinning/living room. It serves it's purpose. The guitar is 17"x2.75". These make great jazz guitars. I have dynas on my 6120 and they sound great on this one too. It is a different sound thoughat 25.5 vs 24.5 scale, a little softer. I keep everything simple. Guitar straight to amp, music stand, metronome, and my iPhone with a slowdowner to transcribe.
Definitely recommend taking a look at gretsch if you are looking for something different than Gibson, or others.

Absolutely stunning, the finish makes it that much better too. If I was going for a Gretsch this would be it.

anyhow, it's awesome and i hope you enjoy it.

I'll make a clip and post soon. All the cc's have parallel bracing with no tone post and are the 25.5 scale. Here is link discussing their history.

Jesse Van Ruller's Levin-like, nice!!

I have a 2006 G6193 w/Dyansonics and Natural Finish Spruce Top. Love it.
-
Nice guitar! Love that 'relic'd case in the background of the first two shots!
-
I don't know how the case got that way. It came with the guitar. Looks like it was eaten by rats.
-
Great guitar.
Case: I bought a guitar from a working musician once. Guitar was in great shape, but the case was really roached out. Some guys just throw the case in the car/van and go. I've always taken care of both guitars _and_ cases. Oh, well. [The tolex on cases, these days, is paper thin, compared to the stuff in the 50s/60s.]Last edited by Greentone; 08-13-2015 at 09:59 AM.

I have been wanting a Country Club for several years now. How do these modern DeArmond/Dynasonics compare to the old ones and do they sound good? That is one nice guitar.
Thanks John

That's georgous ..
Gretsch finishes can be cool .... but I don't always want something shiny or with sparkles
I just picked up a Japanese Gretsch Power Jet and I'm really enjoying it ... It has the TV Jones pickups
Kind of a tele flavor, but with some extra bottom ..... a nice twist on the Ted Greene approach to jazz .. and a good rocker as well
I tried out one of the US made Gretsch Jets a few weeks ago and it felt great ...
unfortunately it had some serious electrical issues and I didn't really get to hear it .. but I'm sure the store's tech could fix that easily

I think the stock dynas sound great. It's a great singlecoil sound. I thought if changing them out but I can't really find a reason to as they sound perfectly fine. I know tv jones are killer pickups made to sound like original dynas but these sound good to me.
-
I had a 57 streamliner with dynas for a while. It's their version of the 175; 16" 24.5. Nice guitar. It had an unusual tone circuit that I don't know would be in a Club RI. Every twist of the tone knob gave you a great usable tone. There was a schematic on the web a few years ago, but it is gone now. The problem with vintage Gretsches is the neck join. Also, I don't think the real early 50s models (before 1954 or so) have truss rods. And they are not cheap.

The 6122ii has a 25.5" scale but is a double cutaway thin hollow w/ painted-on f-holes like the 6120DC so is a bit of a weird one. Most of the popular / common Gretsches like the Falcons, Hot Rods, 6120's, etc. have Gibson scale and are maple. I agree that a Gretsch would make a great jazz guitar. Filtertrons may be known for being bright, but they aren't as bright as a floater and can be really big and warm especially with fat strings with the pickup body close to the strings.
[edit] Teddyfm's CC has a sound post so I don't know the rationale around which ones have it. The 6193 CC sometimes does not (year dependent?). The G100, G400, and G6040 have no sound post.

BTW there is another blonde / spruce CC on Reverb right now for $1800, w/ original hard tail included. They don't show up often.Last edited by spiral; 08-15-2015 at 03:47 PM.

Hmm. My 6196T CC has a sound post. Well, I guess it is.
