I have not had a solid body guitar since about 2002 and I have been out trying guitars looking for a single cool solid body. This morning I found it: Fender American Deluxe Telecaster
The body is alder with the aged cherry burst finish. The guitar has the belly cut and the contour to allow easier access to the upper frets. The pick ups are Fender's N-3 Noiseless pups. They are quiet but still have plenty of the Tele twang. The tuners are locking Sperzel's.
Fit and finish of the guitar is excellent: better than other guitars I looked at the past month from that other American guitar maker for instruments costing more.
Included with price of admission is a decent case, locking strap, guitar cable and allen wrench for neck adjustments.
In the shop (my local GC who recently emailed me a 15% off coupon, which was applied towards this purchase),I could tell this guitar is versatile with a great bluesy tone and jazz flavors at my finger tips.
This is the first Tele I have owned, but I am excited to have it.

Good choice! Exact same model 'cept for the Maple fretboard.
-
Hmm, looks like the newer models have different bridge pickups too.
-
Welcome to the Tele family I dig that mother of toilet seat pickguard.
Remember once you go Tele you can never go back.
-
I've been looking at them for years now... the stars of availability and funds have not aligned as yet :-)
-
I have owned Telecasters for 45 years...until about three months ago. I thought I'd be able to get by. Nope. It's photos like yours that are just killing me.
The Telecaster is absolutely THE all around best guitar ever made. I don't say that lightly as a huge fan of archtop guitars.
Enjoy your new guitar.
Now...the search begins for reacquisition of a Telecaster for me. ;-) One thing...it has to have the biggest neck possible. I have been spoiled by (1) a friend's Mechanicland neck Telecaster, and (2) my boat neck Nash Strat.

The Baja telecaster is custom shop designed, vintage correct and has a neck the size of my ES175.
Great price, too.

I was torn between this color and Olympic White......got the White, but love this as much.

Congrats. It's a real beauty. I love the color.

Looks fantastic!!!! i'm sure I'll own a Tele sooner or later.
should we start calling you "telebill"?
-
It's easier to add another tele than almost any other decent guitar, at least in this neighborhood, cost wise. Congrats! I'm still looking for a black, NOS double bound with rosewood. Not all that available, plus I hate relic-ing.
(Do you realize that "relic-ing" looks like "re-licing" when you don't put in the hyphen? Yuck. Not sure that word even existed before guitar collectors drove up vintage prices and created a market for beating up perfectly nice guitars.)

I guess there's inflation to consider too, but £1000 for a Tele is a lot. That's how much my Deluxe cost me 7 years ago.
Still, compared to Gibson semi-hollows cost-wise...

MIM Fenders are a good value. MIA Fenders, not so much.
-
Archtop Bill, congratulations, that's a gorgeous guitar. Makes me want to Git one for myself.. Love it! Great color choice too.

ps you might have change your name here to: Archtop (and sometimes not archtop) Bill..

If I can ever justify another Tele it will be a bound Deluxe with a tummy cut, maple fingerboard, and some kind of burst. You pretty much nailed it. Awesome guitar!

I'm not a fan of those locking tuners though...the ones on my strat are bad

Restrung the new Tele Saturday evening with 12's. This was my first experience with locking tuners, but they did a good job. Restringing was very fast and tuning is rock solid.
12's made a big difference, of course.
-
How does it sound with the 12s?
I'm getting used to 11 Half Rounds on mine.
