I really dig the sound of this and the Tribute model-
anyone have a Canyon? seems like it might have been a one off-I know it's currently
in the same price range as the Sequel, at $2,500
I been switching between a Pro Reverb and a Swart AST Pro-
both of which I love, and it seems like the Canyon might be a sweet in between spot of those two, and the Tribute an even more beautiful clean machine compared to the Swart.
Thanks

afternoon bump.
any Sequel/Verellen opinions?
-
sounds great, not loving the reverb tho
-
which model do you have? any specific problems with the reverb? too big sounding?
-
sorry just commenting on the vid

Here is another thread with a discussion on this video and other related amps.
You might find it interesting.
Rivera or SeQuel

Thanks for that.
now I have one more amp to consider....
the Rivera.

the canyon is custom order only..very odd design..has 2 amps in one..one "normal" double 6l6 amp driving a full range 12" speaker..and a 2nd smaller amp that just does the reverb thru 2- 5" speakers...seems like a very rube goldberg way to get things done..unless your a real oddball reverb junkie, seems like overkill design
tribute is take on classic gibson ga50 amp that jim hall used...clean amp but not a lot of tonal control..if your a guitar knob tweaker this may be ok
honestly i'd think your pro reverb would be eithers match...if you want to go even cleaner on your pro reverb sub out the first 12ax7 tube with a 12ay7 or a 5751..and look into a larger power handling speaker
cheers

well, my Pro has been modded- started as a BF, then got a Bassman transformer, along with ditching the vibrato for reverb controls ( the first channel controls depth, etc)
I put Weber Michigans in it, so I could double the weight...
it's super Fender-y, and great for other stuff, but I'm kind of chasing a strickly jazzy thing, with the ability to keep up with an unmic'd drummer-
the Tribute probably won't do that.
i am a knob twiddler, but i love reverb as well?

this might be of interest...the Bettie Blondeshell from tavo at nocturne amps...sort of a cross between the gibby ga50 with a more fendery bassman power section..has the 8" & 12" speakers like gibby..uses octal pre amp tubes for vintage jazz tone
Amps ? The Nocturne Brain

Very unfortunate recording and representation of that amp. I'm one of a few on this forum that's ever played the Sequel or Ravine models...one of if not the finest amps I've heard. I don't own a Ravine because at the time I sampled it I wasn't prepared to spend $2k for an amp...not that the amp wasn't worth every cent and more. There have been several ravine owners on the forum...2 or 3...there's a much better demo of the Sequel amps on the Sequel site...check the forum search engine, as the links to those demo's are there...I know because I placed the links on the forum as a reference...it's late, and I don't have the time to search for them...but if you look you'll find them. Good luck on your amp quest.
btw, I wouldn't quantify a mass produced Rivera in the same design league as the Sequel, or Ravine amps...different amp design completely. Nothing against the Rivera, as I wanted one of them at one time...until I heard the Sequel in person

I guess I'm most interested in the Canyon, as it's got some power-
and then the Tribute, because it's absolutely gorgeous sounding-
just wondering if the Canyon is sort of a high powered Tribute, in reality
Thanks for the opinions

one more chance at snagging an opinion from a Sequel/ Verellen user...
would love to hear how these settle in and if there's any build concerns
thanks

50 tube watts of clean guitar into a 12" speaker, and a long tube driven spring reverb circuit driving its own dedicated 15 watt power amp into a 10" speaker. Huge "stereo" sound! Zapped back panel too!
-
Wow, that is an incredibly beautiful amp... congrats!

How did it turn out man? I'd be interested in hearing it if you've got any audio?

a beautiful piece inside and out.
I've never played a GA-50, but this was just based on that, plus, with mine, we made sure it would not fart out in the bass department.
with my Es-175CC, it's rather perfect.

And you got a $300 tax break by not being restricted to buying it locally! Beautiful amp!!! Congratulations!
