    Hey,

I search for recommendations for Reverb Pedals. I am not really satisfied with a Spring Reverb which included in my Deluxe Reverb. I think it's a great Spring Reverb, but i think i looking more for a Hall, Headroom or Plate Reverb Sound.

Sure the Strymon Blue sky, seems to be the top of the top - but maybe you have other recommendations which are cheaper.

I really like the Reverb Sound of Mike Moreno and Szymon Mika. I think both use Strymon Reverb.

Gilad Hekselman has also a cool sound - i think he use the much cheaper Holy Grail.

    Any other ideas?

I have a HOF mini that I like a lot. It was only $70 from Reverb. It's very small and light, but the disadvantage of that is that it requires external power. That isn't a big deal for me, but it might be for others. I often use a standard 9V battery in a really cheap case from ebay - works fine, if I don't have an adapter handy. The real upside is the availability of hundreds, if not thousands, of presets from TC, of every conceivable type. The Toneprint capability lets me beam any of them to the pedal from my smartphone in a few seconds. I usually keep it on the preset ambient, turned very low, just to fatten the sound almost imperceptibly, but the possibilities are huge. I like the room and hall settings, but there are also plate, spring, delay, and all sorts of variations available at the tap of a finger.

Hall of Fame is great, really nice room and hall type sounds, decent spring. I've had mine for like 7 years, haven't even dipped into the online stuff, enough good right in the pedal for me. It's also pretty good on batteries, and it's proven durable.

HOF mini is a great choice for set and forget. (After tweaking with the toneprints)

Reverb pedals will generally require external power since they are digital and consume a fair bit.

I rarely use reverb, but I have an Electro-Harmonix Holy Grail Nano. I’ve been happy with it.

To tell you the truth all modern reverb stompboxes sound excellent to me. I like both the Digitech hardwire and the Tc Hof. Never got the Strymon bug personally.

I think Moreno's sound has more to do with the delay than the reverb. Delay is a valid way to create ambience live instead of / together with the reverb. Something like a tape style echo box (i love the mad professor deep blue delay for that).

I'm using the Holy Grail these days and get compliments on tone, especially from fellow musicians.

I've tried so many. This is one that stays. Mad Professor Silver Spring. Despite the name, it's as much hall as spring. Lovely sounds.

I always return to Lexicon-Reverbs (although the Strymon is really great). Digitech has and had very affordable guitar pedals with licensed Lexicon-Algorithms, e.g. this one:

    RV-7 | DigiTech Guitar Effects

discontinued, but should be available used.

I've studied this worls before buying my pedals and came to the conclusion that the best pedal is the T Rex roommate. In my opinion this is the best pedal. It is of course more expensive than other pedals, but sounds great! Now they have a modification of the pedals that I have.

One man's delay is another man's reverb.

    First thing first:
¿What kind of reverb do you want? ¿should it be a digital compact unit, an analog compact unit or a big analog unit? ¿it's gonna be one in the crowd on a pedalboard or just one of, say, two or three pedals?
And the most important question of all: ¿how many dollarucos are you willing to spend on it?

Dispatch Master v2. I know it is a combination delay/reverb pedal, but both effects are voiced to support each other, and when used together I think the pedal sounds superb. It is the always on pedal for me on my pedalboard.

strymon blue sky is the ticket..thats why those guys use 'em!!...not only are the various reverbs outstanding...(the shimmer!)...but the pedal is built so well, no interfering with your original guitar tone...lots of cheaper pedals suck tone...or convert your analog tone to digital...not ideal!!

    blue sky is a killer..worth the $$$

Catalinbread Talisman is beautiful if the only reverb you like is Plate - like me !! Even a tiny touch is gorgeous with an archtop and it has great fine controls.

catalinbread (reverb) pedals are terrific..but more old school specific..the talisman does plate and the topanga does spring, etc.. all exceptionally!!!

strymon expands on that (for better or worse), and puts it in a more complicated modern multi-verb unit

both great pedal companies...you really can't go wrong with either...simplicity vs options..just dependent on the tone you are after

    cheers

I've been using a Neunaber reverb for the last several months. Very versatile. I like it a lot.

If you want a pure spring reverb effect, nothing beats the Van Amps Sole-Mate. 3-spring analog reverb. Big(10"x6"x2") and heavy(3 lbs w/power supply) and not cheap but it's the best...

I bought mine mainly out of curiosity and the desire to have one pedal that covered both effects. it's very quickly become an essential piece of gear for me. I'll just turn off the reverb on most amps and use the DM. I marked my settings with a sharpie, so I can dial it in in a couple of seconds.

Short feedback for everyone who wanted to help me. I have decided for the Holy Grail Neo. In the last second i didn't press the button to buying Strymon Bluesky. The reason is simple. This thing is absolutly a monster Machine. You have so man different sounds, but i only want a nice Plate Reverb or Hall. So i watched some Youtube Videos of Holy Grail Neo and thought, that this is maybe the right decision. It's there and i have put it on my board. But i need a gig before i can say if it fits to my expections.

I use a TC electronic Nova System for FX, but if I had to stay with just one reverb and nothing else, this would be the one.

I had one years ago, and was very satisfied with its reverb algorithms.

Another option is an older Lexicon rackable unit but obviously they are not in a stompbox format and therefore not as practical. I wouldn't recommend a newer Lexicon. Quality dropped down significantly.

By the way, TC electronic Nova System has very good reverbs also but is VERY difficult to set up as its structure is complex and works in a non standard way.

Tried my new HOF Mini on the gig last night and it worked well right out of the box but I'd like more time to mess with it when this theater thing is over with. So far so good, but I may return it and get the Earthquake Systems Dispatch Master as I missed the little bit of delay that I usually use. Time will tell, but it IS a nice reverb pedal with a lot of possibilities.

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of presets available for the HOF mini. Many include some delay. You can use a computer cabled to it to change the preset, or just use a smartphone to do it wirelessly in a few seconds. Most of the presets seem to be from hard rock and metal players, but some are useful, especially the TC default presets. The hall or plate presets might be preferable to you if you like some delay. I tend to use the preset amb or room most of the time, but I'm not a delay lover.
