For those of you who are fans of Marsh amps, it looks like they will be making a variation of the springfield sponsored by Jay. The new amp will be:

    • Springfield circuit. (based on fender vibrolux reverb)
    • Princeton Reverb sized cab with 1x12
    • Neo speaker (probably jensen jet tornado)
    • Single Channel
    • 1 input
    • No Vibrato
    • Spring reverb
    • No bright switch
    • 35-40w
    • approximately 35lbs

Not sure of the price but Jay sells the springfield for under $1600 so I would expect the new amp to be in the same ballpark, perhaps slightly less.

Great news! Wish they had gone for Deluxe Reverb sized cabinet though. I always feel a 12" "breathed" better in that size cab. But Randall Smith built a small empire with a Princeton Reverb cab so what do I know?

I also had a gries 35 in the smaller cab and it sounded great. The bigger cab adds another 5-8lbs! I'll take the smaller cab and if I want a bigger sound, I'll bring an extension

I think in Kilos so 5- to 8-pound increase translates to 2.27 Kg to 3.64 Kg...Not so bad. Everything is heavier in North America, south of the 49th.

When you're in your 60s, the difference between 35lb and 42lb is significant!

Besides, the vibrolux reverb chassis is only marginally larger than a deluxe reverb so you could just order the springfield with a single 12

    +1.

I was jonesing for a Carr Rambler (about 40 lb.) but settled for a Skylark (about 35 lb.). All the difference in the world, and I am happy as a clam with the amp.

When you are in your 60's the 12 pound Henriksen Blu (mine actually weighs 13 pounds) is just about right.

I've been interested in their Buffalo Reverb (6G2 Princeton, but with blackface reverb added, and a 12" speaker) for years, but I've never seen a good demo, and there's zero chance of running into one in person.... but what a fantastic idea for an amp!

Hey, it's significant in your 40s--maybe that should read my 40s--believe me.

    To Stringswinger and Dedalus,

Weight distribution matters. I have two amps that I gig regularly with: a Fender Tweed Deluxe clone and a Polytone Mini Brute II. They both weigh 24-25 pounds, but the Deluxe feels lighter...considerably.

I think the distribution of the weight and the way it swings on the handle makes the Deluxe a comfortable carry and the Polytone a chore.

I agree. I have a 1964 Bandmaster head that dips to the one side with a huge piece of iron in one of transformers.

Actually I loaded the Bandmaster chasiss into a Deluxe Reverb cab, Mojo, with a Jenson 12" Neo speaker to make it into a combo of sorts.
