Heritage Sweet 16. With that, you can make some "noise" unplugged, for practicing for instance, AND it has a nice sweet sound plugged in, too.
Gibson ES 339. With that, once you plug it in, with the right pedals and amp setting, you can play everything (except, maybe deathhardcoreblackdoom metal, but who wants to play that ? really ?)
So I'm happy !
Why do I have 8 other guitars ? Food for thought...

its nice to have several guitars .. collectors of many things get "hooked" into the "just one more" thing and never really play all of them after some time..over the years I have had many guitars but just one at a time..not as a collection..
so these days i would choose-
Les Paul Classsic antique with PAF pick ups
Suhr Classic - strat style with a SSH config..the humbucker in the bridge position..
I can get the soft smooth jazzy feel out of the LP with tone controls on amp and guitar - and perhaps a pedal or two
and get just about everything else on the strat style..

1974 Gibson ES-175DN
Soloway Gosling Single 15”
(Bubinga over one-piece Swamp Ash)

Couldn't do it.
I suppose I could go either or with my "electric" instrument and have only my tele or 575. But that sure isn't much fun.
But as far as acoustic instruments go, I really need a steel string and a nylon string to make the music I like to make.

L5 WES and a Ibanez GB10

1. Gibson Super 400 CES (and possibly a prewar Super 400 for acoustic playing)
2. Fender No/Telecaster (CS or Masterbuilt)

If assuming stuff I actually own: my 330 and my Benedetto Bravo. Covers all the things I need.
-
I already have mine:
ES-175 & 1934 L-7
But I need a good flat top too.

Godin Multiac 7-string (works surprisingly well through Digitech multi-effects)
Ibanez solid-body 7-string (25" scale for Ted Greene and Ed Bickert tones)

I can't do only two. I always have felt a need to have nylon and steel strings acoustics, and some type of electric. Ironically the acoustics sit in their cases most of the year due to a lack of space for having them out. If I just limited it to electrics I would want my ES-390 thin hollow, my ES-165 full hollow and the Jazzmaster partscaster that I assembled with premo parts all around.
BTW, since I joined this forum I have swapped out numerous archtops until I got the two above. Totally happy and not really looking for much else right now. This forum has really helped me decide what I wanted.
