Hi pals,
Wondering if any of you have any experience with Nash T-63s? They are relatively rare here in Australia so getting my hands on one to try is basically out of the question. The reviews i've been able to find online range from 'overpriced partscaster' to 'superb once in a lifetime instrument'. I enjoy internet hyperbole as much as the next guy however I thought i'd head over here to see if cooler heads might prevail.
Any info you might have would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers
Ps I understand the whole relic thing rustles some peoples Jimmys so allow me to unburden you from the need to address it

Great guitars overall, but indeed pricey. I believe you can get a similar guitar cheaper if you go with Logan (he makes fantastic teles..) or with a high quality build of partscasters.

I'll go with "overpriced partscasters" for $500, Alex.
Pure hype. He just happened to get on the bandwagon early on in the game.
You can make you own Nash with the same parts from the same suppliers and save yourself a bundle of money, if that matters to you.
Or ... go Nash! By paying too much money for a partscaster that the previous owner paid too much money for, you'll help maintain the Nash magic, which will help him with new sales. Hey, He's just trying to make a living like the rest of us..

I was afraid this was the answer I was going to get. My hopes and dreams of a boutique answer to my telecaster prayers dashed against the peninsula of pure reason. I know there's a rich and probably never ending discussion to be had about the subjective nature of worth to an individual and blah blah blah so in the interest of conserving bandwidth i'll leave that off the table for now. Your comment about Nash magic did get me thinking about 'resaleability' though. Probably not the most ideal variable to be considering when purchasing a new guitar but I imagine most people here could identify with the 'I need new gear to make me a more fulfilled musician what can I sell to facilitate this psychological idiocy bug'.
I guess I'm going to have to do some math concerning Warmoth shipping fees to my desolate island + labour fees to have someone put it together as I'm beyond incapable of self assembly and see if I still end up ahead.

Hey man! I'm in Melbourne and a Telecaster addict!
IMHO, Id rather get a US made Fender here in Australia and have it pro-set up, frets levelled, dressed and crowned, new bone nut cut properly for the price of the Nash + shipping + customs fees + GST.. and that guitar will be better..
I have no affliation, just a satisfied customer and besides my luthier works in Guitar Station, Melbourne.. they are a Fender dealer and have cool teles for sale at the moment there..
Yes, Ive tried them.. Nash, LSL, Suhr, etc.. and I think that Nash is a great guitar, but nothing special.. ID put my money on Suhr instead and can be found locally.. AND those are really great boutique guitars in their own right, but not in a traditional sense..
getting parts from Warmoth, etc, will cost you a lot too, and in the end, you're not really saving much, but you do get exactly what color, neck shape, fret material, etc you want.. but to have someone assemble, frets done (220-250 aud), and cut a new nut as necks dont come with it (90-100 aud), buy a pickup set (200-300 aud), solder it (100 aud), hardwares (200-300 aud)..
scour the marketplace for now, there are a lot of high end telecasters in Facebook marketplaces and groups..
but if you really want a Nash, get a Nash as that will make you happy.. keep it as long as you want, and dont worry about resale.. if the time comes you want to sell it, price it and someone who wants it will negotiate with you. :-)

A few notes, since you appear to be at the front end of a learning curve.
Tele necks:
-Allparts sources its telecaster necks from Japan, for the most part. They are pretty much the same quality as Fender Japan necks. For all I know, they come out of the same factory;
-Warmoth makes high-quality gear, but doesn't make a proper telecaster neck - the headstock shape is way off. Well made, play great, but wrong. Rather astonishing, no idea why, because it's something they could easily fix. Hey, maybe they have already fixed it;
-Musikraft makes a far more accurate-looking tele neck;
-Stratosphere takes apart Fender guitars and sells plenty of Fender tele necks. Pricey, IMO.
Tele bodies:
-Allparts, Warmoth, Musikraft, Stratosphere and others sell a variety of tele bodies.
-I've been using MJT for bodies for several years, because, if you buy a stock body from them:
-you see multiple photos of the actual body;
-the weight and the body wood is listed;
-the manufacturer is listed (MJT is a painter);
-finishes are typically nitrocellulose lacquer;
-prices are very reasonable, especially on bodies sold through ebay no-reserve auctions.
There are several other manufacturers/distributors of necks and bodies as well, easily enough researched - WD, Mighty Mite and more, as well as tons of Furutama products out there.
Tele hardware & electronics:
Dead easy. Go nuts. I'd be happy to sell you some anytime - I have plenty of it.
I've done a few dozen partscasters, If your specs are normal, it should be easy to find a nice tele - there are thousands for sale out there every day. Or, as mentioned, get a nice Fender in Australia and have a good tech tweak the crap out of it for you.
Feel free to list your specs. Heck, I may even have one for you.
All IMO, YMMV, etceteras.
