Okay… I’m an old dead head and would have loved to own “Alligator” (Jerry’s strat from 1970-1973). But I’ll have to be honest and say most of the items are just junk…. really. Sentimental value only…
Now… if I had millions in excess cash squirreled away, I might be tempted to try for the vocal array from the Wall of Sound and hang it in my loft (imaginary, of course).

The Vault (thousands of concert recordings) was/is the Dead's retirement plan, plus all the stuff they've had sitting at Club Front and other storage facilities for decades. Jerry died 26 years ago, for pete's sake, which somehow seems shocking to think about. Probably time to start paying for storing all the stuff which, for some part, does appear to basically be junk. Geez, Weir has a truckload of guitars. I was always intrigued by the Modulus Blackknife ones.
FWIW, most of the instruments, backline and other equipment were paid for and owned by the band's corporation, not the individual musicians. This resulted in some unpleasant legal wrangling as Jerry left three of his guitars (Wolf, Tiger and IIRC Rosebud, to the luthier who built them (Doug Irwin) in his will. If I remember correctly the band sued the Garcia estate over that and ultimately lost/settled; two of the guitars went to Irwin, who put them up for auction since he was broke and disabled, and most of the other guitars went to the corporation. One of several legal nasties that occurred after Garcia's death.
