It wasn't absolutely necessary as I already have a nice Eastman electric archtop which sounds quite nice unplugged, and I have a decent Larrivee dreadnaught, but I couldn't help myself. I've liked all the Godin Kingpins I've tried, and I love the look and idea of cherry (laminate) and the antique burst finish is very pretty.
Anyway, I threw a set of the .012 flatwounds on it, which I usually use on my electric archtop just because that's what I happened to have on hand. But I know they're not the best choice and I'm considering a good set of .013 acoustic strings. Right now I'm leaning towards Thomastik Infield Plectrums as I used to love them on my Ovation. They're not piercingly bright and seem to last forever.
I can't seem to find original string specs on the Godin 5th Avenue acoustic, so I don't know what it came with new. Anybody think .013s are too heavy for this guitar?
Thanks!
