My keyboard player has an old Hammond XK2 and has been running it through an old 2nd generation JBL Eon I have and w any kind of volume it sounds like the 15" woofer is about to blow when low notes are played. I believe the speaker is only rated @ 150 watts.
Can you recommend decent reasonably priced speakers for an organ that have enough power. thanks

The only organ specific amp I've tried with my XK5 is my Leslie studio 12. I'm not that knowledgeable about amps but if you don't have a Leslie, you can pretty much just use what you got. It's the same as amping a keyboard. Use whatever you want depending on what sound you want. Bass amp or keyboard amp for bassy or you can use a guitar amp if you want it crisper. No point in going out of your way to spend unless you're going to get a Leslie.

I should've mentioned it has to double as a PA so a Leslie is out, I have one in my home but not very portable and we don't have room in the van for a keyboard speaker and a PA.

My take is that there's not really any organ specific amp for a digital organ except a leslie. The sound will just end up colored slightly one way or the other from the amp and won't make the organ come alive any more than anything else as long as the speakers are decent. However, eq has been really helpful with my digital organ. I mess with my 31 band eq and it really helps shape it into sounding more authentic.
Raney and Abersold, great interview.
