Really good comparison, thank you for doing this.

I'm heavily biased towards mahogany over rosewood, but my favourites were the Parlor and the 01A.

The Parlor in particular surprised me - based on my own preconceptions, I wouldn't have expected to like a very small-bodied, all-mahogany guitar, even though I generally really like all-mahogany OM's.

    Nice playing as well.

Excellent video.* If you haven’t posted it yet on the Acoustic Guitar Forum, I guarantee it will draw 5+ pages of comments and debate.

I recently purchased the new Collings 002H 14 fret model, so I’m biased towards the Sitka/rosewood combination, but I definitely think an all mahogany 00 or OM has to be the next addition. Total buttery warmth.

    * I was listening to this on an iPad sitting next to my wife, who said (unprompted), “that sounds really nice.” So high praise indeed for your playing.

For about a decade I tried really hard to come on speaking terms with flat-tops. And failed. When other people play them (like you!) then I really like it, when I play them I feel like a fish on dry land. Somehow only parlors seem to agree with me and that parlor sounds very nice indeed. And the comparison is very interesting, all those wonderful shades and nuances. Thanks!

Thank you for being willing to give this a listen and sharing some of your musical story. The parlors are kind of addicting to me - their sound is not equal to what the size might make one think they will be, and they are perfect to pick up and play, very inviting.

My vote goes to the all-mahogany 01-T ! I like the balanced and sweet warm tone with a strong fundamental best and this is the reason why I chose my very own all-mahogany Santa Cruz 000-1929/12-fretter some 10 years ago. For fingerpicking, light strumming and lead playing these are my favorites .... In general my preferences go towards somewhat darker tones, in electric guitars as well.
