Hey everyone,
It's coming up to that time of the year where the weather is looking good for some busking. I have a 75 watt polytone baby brute (I think it's a class D?) and I am thinking of purchasing a portable power pack to power the amp for about 2-3 hours per busking session.
I am looking at this as an option Westinghouse iGen160s 100/150-Watt Lithium-Ion Portable Power Station with Power Inverter, LED Display, and Flashlight iGen160s (homedepot.com) Now the thing is I have no idea if the power pack will run for long enough to power the amp. Obviously I won't be using the amp at full volume so I am aware that it won't be using the full 75 watts (from my understanding). If you have any information about these kinds of things please enlighten me.
Thank You!

I have done 3 hour gigs with my Henriksen Blu 6 and one of those little, lunchbox size power supplies. No problem running out of juice (I do turn both the inverter and the amp off on breaks). There is a slight buzz however that can be annoying. Does anyone have an easy fix for that? I assume it is a grounding issue. I never had that buzz with any of the battery amps that I owned.

An original Poly babybrute will be a class 75w AB amp, which means that it will be drawing considerable current all the time. Look at the label on the back - my Babybrute label says it's rated at 120 watts power consumption, so that's what you could expect from a portable power supply.
In a class A/B amp, it will consume maybe 50+ watts even idling, as heat.
The Blu amp is class D, so should idle at about 10 watts when not playing. At 120w output and say 80% power conversion efficiency,
playing time would be about the same at full output, but much longer at (say) 30W output, 2/3 hours perhaps.
The buzz is probably because the amp is ungrounded. Batteries powered amps often operate on dc only, with no need for an ac input, and no problems.

I tried with my Quilter and a FlashFish Lithium Ion baterry Amazon.com, the buzz was very loud, unusable for me. I returned it.

AFAIK you need a pack with a pure sine wave inverter if you want minimal noice. They are more expensive
Raney and Abersold, great interview.
