These are the 2 oldest ones in my arsenal (along with a 1977 Gurian flattop) : the '63 ES-345 is with me since 1982 and the '62 Super-400 came to me about 8 years ago. Both see regular action ....

1939 Gibson EH-185 amp
In action... 1939 L-5 mic'd with both an AEA KU5A super cardioid ribbon mic, and my trusty DPA4099 clipped on as well.
The opposite perspective...

Some amps......and a cat. Not all of the amps, nor all of the cats.

Hi all. I purchased this archtop a few years ago from a collector in Germany who acknowledged it might have been assembled from multiple guitars. The body appears to be an authentic Graubner Rex, but I am unable to identify the marking on the headstock. The headstock has the same shape and orientation (looking at the front, the headstock slopes down from left to right) as most comparable Herrnsdorf archtops. The only markings on the body that I can find are visible through the f hole. Just trying to nail down the date of manufacture and learn where the neck might have come from. I know it is not a valuable guitar, but it has brought me many hours of enjoyable playing!

I hope you won't mind my joining in two months after the last post…
'38 Epiphone DeLuxe, old (?) DeArmond 1100, '46 Epiphone Electar Zephyr amp
Said Zephyr amp, with a '62 Brown Deluxe and a '64 Blackface Tremolux (repro cab)
'53 Höfner 465 with another old (?) DeArmond 1000
The first DeArmond I got but definitely not the least loved: '53 FHC (on a humble but also much-loved Loar LH-700)
And last, an old (40s-60s) Di Mauro Boogie Woogie to start dabbling in Gypsy Jazz

I'll post a few every now and again. Here are some of the fun German ones, probably quite unfamiliar to most of you:
-All with carved tops and backs, except for the Rod. Hoyer Broadway, which has a carved top and a laminated back.
-Rodebald Hoyer "Broadway", West German;
-Otwin (late), East German;
-MUSIMA Spezial, East German - like a longer-scale Byrdland;
-Herbert Todt, East German - East German - like a D'Angelico, but, y'know...better;
-Wolfrum, East German - 18 1/2" big boy, with some updated parts.

I have a hard time having a small number of acoustic archtops, but this is the only CES I need. It’s a 1969. The amp behind it isn’t too shabby. The cabinet is a 1960 Tremolux with a replaced baffle loaded with two ten inch Cannabis Rex speakers. The chassis is a Fender Deluxe 5B3.

Does 19th Century count as vintage?
