Hey all.
I just got a used GB10 em from guitar center. It arrived with a dead neck pickup. Not sure if it’s the pickup or something else but if it is the pickup, I’m thinking of going ahead and upgrading the pickups if guitar center will work with me on that.
I’m wondering what the differences are between the GB specials and the magic touch minis.
Some might have other suggestions as well.
Thanks
Ben.

?send a guitar back to guitar Center. They have a remarkably flexible return policy why deal with a guitar that’s broken when you bought it from them send it back to those suckers.

Ben.. what’s a magic touch mini? jk

Ibanez made their reputation on the well designed and constructed GB10 and then there are varying grades and degrees of downgrading and compromising to accommodate the various levels of budgets.
The GB10 EM has a reputation of being riddled with quality issues. You might get one that's OK, you might not. If that's a new guitar, that was one that got through the dubious QC standards of their low end inspections. If it's a second hand, don't go through replacement from GC. If there are other issues you aren't immediately aware of, it's just not worth your time or money to find out all the hidden woes of a lemon.

I have the Fujigen GB10, thus Having never had reason to read up on the GB10EM so i didn’t realize that’s what they were calling it. Have to agree with Jimmy on all points.
If there is any way you can save for the real GB10, do so. It is a truly well made and playing instrument. A real gem. Not Jem. (Ibanez joke)

I think I’m stuck with this price range for now but out of curiosity, when you all say “save up for a better model” does that include the SEFM and/or the SE? I may be able to reach those in the not too distant future, but was hoping to start moving towards a better amp first.
I can definitely return to GC but I got a good deal on this one. ($630 with a case taxes and shipping included) If they can fix it I’m not sure why I would need to throw the baby out with the bath water.

At 630 and they fix it, i agree 100%. And you can always change the pickups eventually should you want.
Hey the biggest deal is if it plays well to you, not forum members)))
You enjoy playing it, you keep it!
And forgive me for being a tad elitist i was referring to saving for an MIJ GB10, but thats a couple thou over 630!
There does seem to be some evidence of the Chinese GB’s being of better or more consistent quality than the Indos. I have an Indo AF95FM, Chinese AG95 and AF151. Mine are pretty much equal. To me.
Have fun!

The Magic Touch Mini discussed above if not made in the USA and is inferior to the USA made Magic Touch Mini Humbucker from Seymour Duncan, which they feature on the Ibanez AZS series Tele. It is an incredibly articulate pickup which is fat and great for jazz.
Cheers,
Arnold
Here's a sample!
