They are both beautiful. To be perfectly honest I didn't know PRS made amps. Dave's Guitars is one of the biggest PRS dealers in the country (world?), and Dave is a personal friend of his as well. But I've never seen a PRS amp there. I've not been looking for them, though. I love the colors.

As far as the guitar, it is rare to find walnut with that much figure. Is that a laminate? Beautiful guitar!

No , it's a carved top . I have a similar model with a center pickup and a flame maple neck , but it has the very sparkly 58/15LT low winds (7.5K both)

I made an all walnut chambered 24 fret neck through years ago that is going to my oldest grandson when he gets more proficient.Santa brought Walnut and Mahogany !-1-17-18-lil-clara-jpg

A little homage to Doug Irwin in there, maybe?

Doug Irwin has been a HUGE influence along with PRS my 20th anniversary model has a bit more of a nod ..Cocobolo/Flame Maple/Ebiara /Quilted Maple with a Mahogany/ebony 24 fret neck through TV Jones Powertron/ Setzer/ Powertron + pickups , with a 5 way , mast vol and tone and a blend pit for bridge and neck .. extremely versatile and special. Doug Sewel is the AMP guy at PRS , he made Sewel amps on his own ..if you look real hard you can find one.

There are several artist using the PRS amps now . The DG 30 is an obsessively meticulous component by component vetted hand wired masterpiece. Most would say overpriced . They are about the same $$ as the equivalent Boogie (which I've Played for 30 years) The DG30 Custom set list $3699 for the head,$999 for the 2x12 . I was lucky to get mine from a studio guy who was moving at a nice discount .

Santa brought Walnut and Mahogany !-arrival-12-28-22-jpg 5 days late due to the arctic blast , but well worth the wait . She has great warmth and sprarkle in her tone , and the flame is stunning.

Oh my, the DG30... I've come close to buying one a number of times. I keep reading that they aren't really for home use, even with the master volume... that they really need to be LOUD to be great, which is why I have never pulled the trigger.

I've got the DGT (in yellow tiger), the DG30 is the perfect match...

The DG 30 is NOT too loud for the home!!!! Just don;t use the BOOST on the back panel. Yes it can get loud , but it is amazingly lush at low volumes and while it takes a bit of work it can produce a wide variety of delicious tones.

Grissom usually uses the 30 over the 50 for tone. I'd highly recommend hunting one down , there are a few on reverb used .

I love the DGT's the McSoapy and Walnut LTD cover that ground very well.

I know Grissom uses the boost ON all the time, unless he's going for a blackface tone in the studio. But to get that tone he gets- which is what I'm after most often- he uses the boost on.

How good is the MV? I've had hit-or-miss experiences. The one on my new Bad Cat is great, but others... meh. If the boost is on, can you still get that rich Grissom-like tone at home volumes? (and to be clear I don't mean bedroom volumes. I play louder than that at home. Not gig volume of course, but louder than "bedroom", and louder than any television...

With a nice gain pedal up front you don't need ear bleed. I have a Fender tube MTG that I use as a clean boost If I want to fatten it up , which it doesn't need.
