I have a guitar with HB sized SD P90s. The guitar over all is a bit bright and thin and does not have a tone control. I want a thicker sound but still retain clarity and bite.

I have never played any good dynasonics. Listening to clips, leads me to belive that some good dynasonics could be the solution.

    Anyone have some knowledge?

There are some excellent Dynasonic-style pickups out there. The Gibson AlNiCo V staple pickup is a direct copy of the Dynasonic, so it's interchangeable, IMO. The main criterion with these is output - originals tend to be high output, which slams the front end of an amp and has a lot to do with how they sound.

TV Jones T-Armonds are available sized to fit standard humbucking pickup routs.
Seymour Duncan offers the Dynobucker, sized to fit standard humbucking pickup routs.
Seymour Duncan also offers the Phat Staple, sized to fit standard humbucking pickup routs.
There are other makers as well.

Thank you. I had not thought about the output.

I really like TV Jones. I have a few of his PUs. The TV Jones Classic are not beefy enough for me. I have it in a maple caped SG, so it could also be the guitar. (One day I will get around to swapping PUs in that guitar again).

My worry about the T-Armonds is that they will be brighter then the Classics.

The gobojo MR2000HBs look interesting to me.

I have Gabojo Dynas in a MIJ Epi Emperor - they're some of the nicest sounding pickups I've had. They have a lot of everything- bass/mids/treble - with the tone control wide open they can be a bit brash sounding, think Duane Eddy. With the tone control backed off a bit they become very sweet sounding, but not muddy, kind of reminds me of Johnny Smith's guitar tone on those Verve recordings. I've tried Filtertron pickups in other guitars, I think Dynas have a much thicker sound.

Thank you so much. That info helps. I feel like they would work well for me.

Can anyone give a compare and contrast of dynas to P90s? I have the SD fat P90s. Any info is fully appreciated.

They don't sound that way to me. They are louder than Classics, have more bass than Classics, but also more mids... not as much mids as his T90 (which is awesome). The T-Armonds have "thicker trebles" to my ear, likely due to the fact they are hotter than Classics and have huge alnico magnet poles instead of steel screw poles with a bar magnet.

I have a Fender Thinline Cabronita that I have tried all these pickups in, so I at least have a direct comparison. I'm not at all a fan of Classics, but love the T-Armonds and T-90s. The T90s have a "more traditional jazz sound"...

This video is a perfect representation of what the T-Armond neck sounds like:

Thank you. All the vids I hear, tell me dynas are they way to go for my Eastman Romeo LA. TV Jones has the dynas listed as brighter then the classics but from what I am reading on forums, there are more nuances.

Yes, I don't agree with the "TV Jones Tone Chart" or whatever he calls it. His T-Armonds are not as bright as the classics... or I should say they don't SOUND brighter, they have more low end and thicker high end than Classics. They sound like tele pickups that are beefier and louder.

The T90 is very different- way more mids. Kind of like if you added mids to the T-Armond. They are both great pickups. For jazz tones, I would go with the more mids of the T90s. But I lean towards P90 jazz tones on hollowbodies.... it depends on the guitar of course.
