Hi all, I’ve just started playing jazz (after playing metal/blues/church music for 15 years) and have been lurking and learning a lot here.
I decided to purchase a DV Mark Little Jazz as it seems to check all my boxes and has gotten great reviews here.
Anyway, I thought I would go ahead and make an account and try to be of service on here. I just ordered one from Musicians Friend, they are back ordered til October 12th, so not that long of a wait and are on sale for $199 USD which seems significantly lower than what I’ve seen. Just thought I’d provide a heads up. The 12 inch version is also on significant markdown.

I paid $350 for mine several years ago. Unclear why they're on sale for $199, but it is the lowest price I've seen, by far.
I just bought the Jazz 12 (same electronics, bigger speaker). Sounds a lot like the LJ. A bit louder. Bass frequencies don't sound the same, but I'd be hard pressed to say which sounds better.

I've had both the mini and the 12" jazz on backorder for 6 months with Musician's Friend. Every few months they push the delivery date forward. I've got amps, they were just such a great deal that I decided to pick them up, less than $450 for both with free shipping, iirc. Last time I checked was around Halloween and they said delivery in early December. Still waiting so I'll check back with them after the first of the year.

Guitar Center says the LJ I ordered in the first week of August will ship on January 7. I hope!

Personally, I don't mind waiting for how good the deal was, but I've been expecting to wait until the new year since the day I placed the order. I'm sure it must be frustrating for them to keep pushing it back on you.

Thomann has them in stock for shipping tomorrow - at 444€! That includes German VAT of 19%, translating into a tax-free price of 373€, with free shipping in EU I think. Thomann's pricing has driven traditional retailers nuts and forced many out of business. 199$ - it's hard to believe that we're even talking about the same product.

I'm ok with waiting for gear; I just waited fourteen months for a custom build that then had to go to my luthier for fretwork, a nut and have the floating bridge cut down to a manageable size to set the intonation, so I won't be seeing that for a few more months. When you get old, about all you care about is a good glass of rye and keeping regular.
Thomann, man I feel so badly for people who have to deal with them. Prices are so high. I don't know if that's true throughout the EU but if so, man. That's crazy money.

The LJ EU prices are roughly the same from one vendor to another. Andertons in UK lists it for 449 GBP but is out of stock. What's hard to understand in USA is the level of sales taxes in Europe: 19% in Germany, 29% in Hungary and in between in most other EU countries. 24% here in Finland. Sales to and from non-EU countries are tax-free, but shipping across the Atlantic costs quite a bit. Typically, if I ship a 320€ 12" Toob cab to USA, UPS charges 80€, 20% of the total cost of 400€.

Hi
I'm new to the Forum, I own a LJ and play regularly on a Jazz 12.
When I see the prices you are talking about in USA , it's hard to believe, here in France in shops or on the online stores
the LJ costs around 440 €.
I hope I'm wrong, but if you have already waited so long, the probability you'll never receive the amps is huge.
Considering my (little) experience with these amps I discovered this year, they are perfect for clean sounds, and curiously the one giving the bassier and louder sound ( so jazzier ?) is the LJ not the 12.
I bought the LJ used (traded against a 5w Vox valve) , it was an old generation, and I did the fan switch modification.
With My GB10 SE , the resulting sound is amazing.
I think the LJ is the best choice, so small you'll have no problems at home, and you certainly have in the basement an old 12'' cheap amp you can use as a 12'' cabinet.
HAPPY NEW MUSICAL YEAR

Hi Bernie and welcome! Just be careful when connecting an extension cabinet to your LJ. With the arcane phone jacks we use for historical reasons, there's a momentary short when plugging/unplugging. I've seen a first-generation LJ going up in smoke when the extension cab was plugged in while the amp was on.
Happy New Year!

I've considered changing one of those out for a SpeakOn, but so far it has been more work than I'm willing to invest. I just make sure the amp is off before removing/inserting a plug into the cabinet. The RE cabinets I've owned have both types, for convenience I suppose, and I have no complaint about that. I do have complaints about amps that only provide 1/4" speaker connections. They're smaller, of course, but I don't like them.

The DV Little Jazz is not more interesting than the Italian and Italo-American violin and archtop guitar makers or Ferrari, Italian slow food - or my old Faema E61. The latter can also be found on German ECM esspresso machines, but if you happen to run an all Italian original (que bella macchina!), it could happen that you have to wait six months for a little spare part (gasket).
Is it worth the wait? Yes, IMHO, absolutely!
All nations have their own history and little idiosyncrasies - let's celebrate the differences together, not complain about them!
Best take it with some Italian "sprezzatura"! Said by a German with an alleged sense of order, thoroughness, submissiveness, humorlessness and a lingering smell of Kraut and nazism.

Apologies, I didn't mean to cause any offense with my post. I've removed it for what that's worth. Make no mistake, it was only intended as a comment on business culture and unreliable information - do note that I respect the quality of craftsmanship, and that I'm still buying it; Quick Mill, Colnago, Campagnolo, DV Mark, Bialetti, Alessi, and many other Italian names are well-represented in this house (particularly clothing) - but I can see that my post was in poor taste.
I can't take it back but I can say that I'm sorry. Thank you for calling me out on it.Last edited by mr quick; 01-07-2024 at 06:52 AM. Reason: Forgot a word/phrase

I just spoke to a Guitar Center rep and now the Dv Mark Little shipping date is Feb 24. That would make it 7 months since i ordered it.I'm having serious doubts that i am ever going to see this amp.

GC/MF is the exclusive dealer in the US, so if they dropped it…
