Here's a video of the classic Oscar Peterson Trio (joined about midway by Ella Fitzgerald, Jo Jones and Roy Eldridge ) from a Jazz at the Philharmonic program in May 1957. Everyone brought their "A" game:
Observations:
1. Notice how intense Herb gets while playing Sweet Georgia Brown, and is almost "in your face" with Oscar.
2. Herb plays rhythm with his thumb, comps with fingers on Joy Spring
3. Really good camera work throughout, so you get to see how Herb plays, comps and gets that bongo effect

Man can OP play. Art Tatum is the only guy who could compete with him.
Herb is great as usual.

Great stuff. Thanks for posting.
My favorite trio, right here.

Ella's "April in Paris" is fascinating because for her solo she sings the famous solos from the Count Basie version (1955)
