Solid jazz box that has had an excellent, professional neck reset and new medium frets. Here are all the details:

For Sale: 1960 Gretsch 6124: $1250 USD + FREE shipping to Canada or USA (shipping to Europe will be $120 EUR)

Here's a link to a sound sample, but it had a Dearmond style single coil pickup then. The sound is a bit fatter with the current pickup.

Here’s the deal: It has had an excellent neck reset by master archtop builder, Doug Harrison. https://harrisonguitars.com It has been refretted with medium frets and they show only the tiniest amount of wear. There is no binding rot; zero. The finish is in excellent condition for its age, with a few small dings and no checking. It has a bone nut, high quality Gotoh, Gretsch style tuners with a 15:1 gear ratio, a 250K vol. pot with a smooth, even taper, and the mud switch was replaced with my “Tone Tip” that looks like the tone switch but is really a tone pot. It has a very smooth taper, and the entire range of the rotation is useful.

The pickup is a reproduction Guild LB (Little Bucker) like the one Jim Hall used on his D’Aquisto. The top was routed to accommodate this pickup, but a Gretsch Filter’tron or Hilo’tron could be installed with a Gretsch style pickup ring to cover the route. The bridge is ebony and is OK, but buyer would probably want a better quality one, even though the intonation is pretty good with this one. As you can see, it has a mixture of gold and chrome hardware. The G tailpiece is a reproduction, but is the proper size at approx. 6" long.

It's set it up as a jazz guitar and I've gigged with it many times. It's an excellent player, has a nice even response throughout its entire range and great sustain. The original case has seen better days but is still solid and the latches all work. The handle is a replacement.

I have way more into the guitar than I’ll get back as the neck reset and refret were close to $1000, and the pickup, tailpiece, tuners, etc. added a few hundred more. It’s a great guitar as it is, or it could be restored close to its original form. Now offering free shipping to Canada and the continental USA. I can ship to Europe, but will have to charge for the shipping, and it would be 120 EUR.

Lots more pictures available, so if interested send me a message with an email address and I’ll send them over. PayPal is good as buyer and seller are protected. More photos available; send me a message with an email address and I'll send them along.

Yes, people are asking very high prices for used guitars and amps these days. I priced mine to sell; it will be a very good deal for someone who wants a solid, vintage guitar to play as is, or mod into a two pickup version. Almost all of the lower line Gretsches from that era need neck resets. I played mine on gigs for close to a decade, so having the neck and frets done was necessary, and worth the enjoyment that I got from playing it. Also, not that jazz gigs pay a whole lot, but they did pay for the work that was done on the guitar. These hollow Anniversary models are kind of still under the radar as player guitars for jazz. Set up properly they hold their own or exceed most ES 175s, at least the ones that I've played. Market dictates price though.
