Some of the late John Pisano's guitars are being offered for sale on Reverb. I have no affiliation with this, I am merely sharing the news. Having known John Pisano and having played some of his guitars I can attest, he's got some good ones! A link worth keeping an eye on for sure.

    John Pisano Guitars Reverb

Instruments from the personal guitar collection of the "Godfather of LA Jazz Guitar", John Pisano. John has recorded and performed with Joe Pass, Herb Ellis & The Tijuana Brass, Billy Bean, Chico Hamilton, Sérgio Mendes, Tony Bennett, Diana Krall, Benny Goodman, Louis Armstrong, Peggy Lee, and many others. John Pisano's Guitar Night was a groundbreaking weekly 'hang' in Los Angeles that ran for roughly 25 years, featuring some of the world's best known jazz guitarists

John only kept guitars that sounded and played great. I think the proceeds from the sale will help Jeannie Pisano too.

Indeed on both counts. John had an old ES175, the guitar he used to perform with Chico Hamilton and others, that had the fingerboard replaced by John D'Angelico. I wonder if they'll list that guitar too.

Beth Marlis says she already helped them sell the higher guitars and these are what’s left. So it seems unlikely. There could be something I suppose though.

That is not surprising. Oh well, still some interesting pieces left I hope. I seem to remember he had a Borys nylon string. Will have to ask her about it.

He played his '53 D'Angelico Excel during his stint w Chico, he got the 175 either at the very end of or after he was working w Chico, I think around '58.
He used the Excel on most gigs in the 50s except acoustic dates, sold it a long time ago.
