Any ideas to share?
So far I was thinking (this is for guitar and flute/sax):
Nuages
Manoir de mes Reves
Peace - Horace Silver
Manha de Carnival
Sometime Ago
Melodie au Crepuscule
I realize I may be missing the obvious, but I'm in a hurry.
Thank you,

When the Saints Come Marching In

As cosmic sort of says, jazz + funeral = New Orleans, at least historically. Just a Closer Walk with Thee comes to mind. But more important would be to choose stuff in keeping with the tastes of the person in question, and we can't help, there.
-
Yeah, it's gotta be personal taste.
I want side one of Ascension played at my wake.

An organist is playing the hymns during the service, we are playing music for 1/2 hour before the service and a brief interlude during the service.
The deceased was a fan of ours so they want some light jazz.
Maybe Stardust, Softly as a Morning Sunrise.
I don't want anything too sad as it is to be a celebration of the man's life, but I can't really see anything too happy and swingin' either.
thank you for the replies

If it was my funeral, I would want total foot stompin', ass swingin' jazz played.
Just sayin'.

I almost always get a good response at funerals and memorial services with:
What A Wonderful World (Louis Armstrong). I would wrap up your portion with this song - people are often touched by it, and the whole Louis Armstrong optimistic/nostalgic connotation seems to do folks good.
I often do:
Come Sunday (Ellington)
If the service is for someone associated (however vaguely) with any Christian denomination, it's hard to go too wrong with Amazing Grace, which I (we) often do in a slow but bluesy 3/4 with an understated triplet feel. Many spirituals (if you all know some) could work as well.

Abide by me. Listen to Thelonius Monks simple arrangement, easily played on guitar, nice with flute/sax.You can find it on Monks Music, very nice album.

Thank you everyone for the replies!

I performed "I'll Fly Away" for our bass players funeral service last Sunday. It was his favorite song.
-
I've also done "Just A Little While to stay Here" Dixieland Band style on a plectrum banjo and kazoo at a friends funeral at his request. Cancer got him, but we sang him out in style.
